Green Sabbath Network

The Green Sabbath Network welcomes communities, organizations and congregations of all denominations -- or with no particular religious orientation -- to join our coalition of those who observe or celebrate a weekly earth day. Network members pledge to implement as many green sabbath activities as they are willing, hopefully as a component of a wider program of reducing their environmental impact and becoming more active in public efforts to reorient our societies toward sustainability.

We have created a list of suggestions for green sabbath activities members might institute.  Please suggest additional ideas to us.

We encourage members to organize green sabbath events for their local communities and to inform us about them. We will post such events on our calendar to help members advertise and raise awareness.  Please contact us if you want our help brainstorming events or other activities. We hope to raise monies in order to help support members’ green sabbath events.

We are organizing a global green sabbath weekend in coordination with Earth Day 2021 (Thursday, April 22) that will take place on Friday-Sunday, April 23-25, 2021. Our goal is to get as many communities, organizations and congregations as possible worldwide to participate. Stay tuned for further news.
