Sarah Jaquette Ray
Professor of Environmental Studies, Humboldt State University
http://www.writingattheendoftheworld.blogspot.com
Dr. Ray will talk about her book, A Field Guide to Climate Anxiety, with particular focus on the emotional and spiritual resources of youth activists. The book offers an "existential toolkit" for the climate generation that draws on secular mindfulness, social psychology, social movement theory, and a decade of leading and teaching in college-level environmental studies programs. Turning an emotional or spiritual lens on environmental disruptions that many of us are already feeling (including extreme weather events, fires, and even COVID) is a necessary step in facing a climate-changed world. After the talk, Dr. Ray will open for discussion and reflection.
